November art news

These last days of October more and more I hear from different people that time flies and it's almost Christmas / New Year / Hanukkah...
True-true and just before the festivities will start, let's drop by some great museums and see what they have :)

In the today's issue 3 unmissable exhibitions that are now open in Vienna + 2 events.
  • Superstar of the Baroque: Peter Paul Rubens. About 70 art-works out of 120 exhibited at the Kunsthistorisches museum Vienna were landed form the Hermitage museum in St. Petersburg, Prado museum in Madrid, National Gallery of Art in Washington. These breathtaking masterpieces allow visitors to see Rubens' approach and creative process.

  • Raphael's masterpieces. About 70 art-works out of 120 exhibited at the Kunsthistorisches museum Vienna were landed form the Hermitage museum in St. Petersburg, Prado museum in Madrid, National Gallery of Art in Washington. These breathtaking masterpieces allow visitors to see Rubens' approach and creative process.Together with Leonardo Da Vinci and Michelangelo, Raphael is one of the greatest masters of all times. His exhibition at the Viennese Albertina is unique because of 130 drawings by Raphael that are extremely fragile and light sensitive. Due to that they are shown to public very rarely. Don’t miss the opportunity to see something that may be hidden for the next decades.
  • Bruegel. Drawing the world. Works of one of the most important Dutch draftsman – Pieter Bruegel the Elder can be seen in also in Albertina. Don’t mix with Pieter Bruegel the Younger. Whose nickname was Hell Bruegel because of several paintings depicting fire and grotesque imagery. And those are now attributed to his brother Jan Bruegel the Elder. And his nickname is Paradise Bruegel by the way. Are you already messed up with all those Bruegels? So now for sure you would want to see the works of the father of both “Hell” and “Paradise” Bruegels, right?
